History and Background

The invention of steam engine in late 18 century made iron-structure ship possible. Since then, the worst nightmare for sailors and seamen – thunderstorm – are less scary than ever. Things began to change when many non-metal, composite materials are developed in the second half of the 20^th century. These materials are lighter, stronger, and more endurable.
