Coaxial RF Connectors

 

Coaxial radio frequency connectors, often called RF connector is an electrical connector designed to work at radio frequencies in the multi-megahertz range. N-type connector

The threaded, weatherproof, and medium-size type N connector is a high performance RF coaxial connector used in many RF applications, mainly used to join coaxial cables and carrying microwave-frequency signals.

 

BNC connector

Although BNC connector is widely used for many other RF applications, in fact the it is essentially a miniature version of C connector with was a bayonet version of the N-type connector.

 

The BNC connector is a miniature quick connect / disconnect radio frequency connector are used with miniature-to-subminiature coaxial cable in radio, television, and other radio-frequency electronic equipment, video signals, and test instruments. 

 

TNC connector

The TNC connector is very similar to the BNC connector, which the biggest difference is that it has a screw fitting instead of the bayonet one

 

The TNC connector has a constant impedance, and in view of the threaded connection, its frequency limit can be extended. Most TNC connectors are specified to 11 GHz, and some may be able to operate to 18 GHz. 

 

SMA connector

 

SMA connectors are semi-precision coaxial RF connectors, as a minimal connector interface for coaxial cable with a screw-type coupling mechanism, furthermore SMA is designed for use from DC to 18 GHz, with a 50 Ω impedance, and mostly encountered with WiFi antenna system and USB software defined radio dongles.

 

This threaded outer coupling interface SMA connectors has a hexagonal shape, can be tightened with a spanner, which often used for providing RF connectivity between boards, and connecting many microwave components such as filters, attenuators, mixers and oscillators.

 

F Connector

 

The F-Type connector is a threaded alternative to the slide-on G-Type connector. The F connector provides an inexpensive connection for coaxial cables to communications devices and to other cables

 

F Connector applications

Primary applications of the F-Type connectors are for cable television (CATV), set top boxes and cable modems, head end equipment, high speed cable modems, CIMs, hybrid fiber coax networks.

7/16 CONNECTOR

 

The 7-16 DIN connector or 7/16 (seven and sixteen millimeter DIN) is a 50 Ω threaded RF connector used to join coaxial cables. It is meaning that connector has a 7mm OD of inner contact, 16 mm ID of outer contact. These connectors provide superior performance for both return loss and intermodulation distortion (IMD). Because of Pre-assembled gasket protects against dust (P68) and water (IP68) per IEC 169, It is among the most widely used high power RF connectors in cellular network antenna systems

 

These connectors are very robust, extremely stable and mostly with waterproof specifications,  7/16 connectors are especially suitable for base stations and broadcast communication systems, antenna system, wireless infrastructure, lightning protection, satellite communications and so on.
